Griffins' Valenzuela wins 2-player race in Week 4

In the Week 4 player of the week poll, a total of 8,758 votes were cast.

Of that total, and overwhelming 8,627 votes went to two players.

Glendale Prep senior running back/safety Joseph  Valenzuela  outlasted Willow Canyon sophomore tailback Vance Cooper. Wight finished with 5,050 votes to Sanchez's 3,577.

Valenzuela had eight carries for 89 yards and a touchdown, plus two catches for 54 yards and four tackles in the Griffins' 49-0 rout of St. John Paul II Oct. 23.

Cooper carried 22 times for 217 yards and three touchdowns in the Wildcats' 45-35 win at  Independence that night.

Cactus sophomore running back Damian Jiles was a distant third with 45 votes. He rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries during the Cobras' 60-14 victory at Greenway.

For the fifth straight year, player of the week honorees, including Wight will win more than bragging rights.
