Fountain: Supporting Trump will help city

Fountain running for Surprise City Council in District 2

Posted

To the citizens/voters of District 2: I am Dr. Wendell Fountain, seeking the job of city councilmember of Surprise.

Though this is a nonpartisan position, unlike my competitor, I am a conservative who supports the policies of President Trump and his administration.

Also, I’m a realist and those things which happen in Washington, D.C., have a direct impact upon our great community; therefore, it’s important to have a sound working relationship with our president’s administration. Please check out my latest book, “TRUMP: Man, Phenomenon, President,” published in October.

My primary reason for asking you to elect me is I want to serve you, my fellow citizens. I would not ask you to allow me to serve you unless I was unequivocally qualified to complement the needs of our great city, city council and mayor.

Thankfully, I have a well-developed skillset. My background includes more than 40 years of executive/volunteer service (VyStar Credit Union — 25 years as board member), undergraduate/graduate teaching, as well as high-levels of business and management consulting since 1984.

I currently work with the Jerry Coangelo College of Business for Grand Canyon University and have for the past three years. Since my earned doctoral degree is business administration (D.B.A.), my primary expertise lies in business/management, to include human resources management in which I was awarded a master’s degree from Pepperdine University.

It is important to be well-versed and current regarding federal laws which affect employees, and our city employs well over 1,000 employees. The city is only second to the Dysart Unified School District, which employs more than 1,800.

Though a businessman, politics is not a stranger. When I had children in school, I sought a seat on the schoolboard. After that, I ran a campaign for a close friend for city commissioner to which he was elected. Later, he was re-elected twice before cancer claimed his life.

Currently, I am active in the Sun City Grand Republican Club and am a strong supporter of Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. In fact, she read my book about the president. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time in Washington, trying to get things done, and I certainly have more than a rudimentary understanding of the complexities of our government.

In 2010, our population was 117,000. Now, we are 138,000 strong with many challenges, including controlled growth, business and downtown development, planned area development (PAD), education, water/conservation, and numerous traffic and safety concerns.

This is not all inclusive but representative of what I have observed, along with many voters in District 2. If it had not been for the scourge of coronavirus, I would have personally met hundreds more of you.

Finally, please visit my website at wendellfountain.com where you may find a great deal of information about me. My wife, Dr. Grace Fountain, and I love Surprise and Sun City Grand. This is our final home of record.

Our goal is to do good, and hopefully, even great things for posterity and the city of Surprise.

Editor’s Note: Wendell Fountain is a candidate for the Surprise City Council in District 2. He is opposing Alyson Cline in the Aug. 4 election.
