It is not too late to sign up for the City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Fall Sports Leagues. Late registration began Aug. 3. Youth soccer, tee-ball, baseball, softball and volleyball leagues, for boys and girls ages 4-17, will start in early September and run until early November. Skills classes and camps are also offered for ages 6-15 in basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball from August–October.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the city is implementing health and safety guidelines regarding proper distancing, sanitizing and scheduling. Dates are tentative and subject to change. For more information, please contact the Sports Division at 623-222-2000, or visit surpriseaz.gov/recreation.

Roadwork

Work will begin on Greenway Road from Sarival Avenue to Cotton Lane in September. Work will include widening the roadway to four travel lanes, as well as the addition of a traffic signal at Greenway Road and Northwest Ranch Parkway. Provisions for drainage, sidewalks, a bicycle lane, street lighting, landscaping and turn lanes, are also a part of the project. Utility work will take place on the roadway prior to the start of construction. Work is anticipated to be completed early 2021.
