Norberg: Candidate focused on taxpayers, businesses

Posted

My name is Greg Norberg, and I’m asking for your vote to be your Councilman for District 3. I’m very involved in the city and attend council meetings regularly, which is what has driven me to meet you at your door to ask for your signature and your vote.

My mission is to bring accountability, higher performance and inclusion to you. I’m a problem-solver and believe that the District 3 councilmember needs to be someone who understands the necessity of results and solutions.

My commitment is to focus on the hardworking taxpayers in District 3. You have invested in this city, and it’s about time the city invests in you. I will always answer, greet, and meet you when you have questions and want answers. I’ve already done so with many of you.

The performance of the District 3 councilmember needs to be held to a higher standard so that everyone in our district and our city benefits. The only way that can be done is to never forget that this is a servant position, and serve you well is my highest priority.

The city of Surprise has a unique opportunity to become the vibrant city that we deserve to have and enjoy. I’ve owned my own small business with three storefronts. I understand that businesses, big and small, bring innovations to a community. We need to make it easier and streamline the process for businesses so our city will be the most attractive city in the Valley, and businesses will be drawn to us.

We should be the city that businesses flock to. We need a councilperson that understands how vitally important it is to create a healthy economy; to build relationships with landowners and developers that bring us much-needed head-of-household jobs and industry; a councilmember that understands the need to move our city in the right direction for today and for future generations.

We must also focus on safety and security with our fire and police. We know there is a need and we should plan accordingly so we don’t add another tax burden onto the community by asking you to vote for more bonds that carry interest on our tax dollars.

Additionally, I have four children, two of them in high school, two of them with their BAs, and both my parents were teachers. I value the education community and would ask to be the liaison between the city and the school district. Although council does not make education decisions, we currently have no one on council reporting to you regarding our schools and our most vital community — our children

With your vote and your support, I will be that councilman committed to you, value you, your family, and our city. Again, my name is Greg Norberg, and I’m asking for your early vote when the ballots go out in July and on Election Day Aug. 4.

Editor’s Note: Mr. Norberg is a candidate for Surprise City Council in District 3. It’s part of a series of guest commentaries from candidates in all district’s for the Aug. 4 election.
