WHAM Art Association announces it will host the seventh annual “Bowls of Hope” event for the West Valley.
Bowls of Hope will be held in conjunction with WHAM’s Art Bazaar and Sidewalk Chalk Art 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at the WHAM Community Art Center, 16560 N. Dysart Road.
This event helps local food banks and shelters provide food for individuals in need, along with funds to a home for battered women, shelter for human trafficking and shelters for veterans in the West Valley.
Current statistics show Arizona hunger rates to be higher than the national average and St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance reports that one in five Arizonans, one in four children and one in seven seniors live in poverty. WHAM, as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, is committed to giving back to the community and providing hope to such ones in the community.
In the past two years with the COVID Pandemic, many have lost their jobs and are in critical need of help. These funds are helping provide a service to help many in our community.
Members of this WHAM are busy getting ready for this special event. These volunteers are hand building, throwing clay on wheels and glazing food safe bowls that will be on display for this special event. The goal is to have several hundred bowls available for members of the community to select from. On the day of the event, for a $12 donation per bowl, the community will be able to choose from the many handmade bowls.
Artists will be in attendance and admission is free, open to the public.
