GivingTuesday campaign coming up

Posted

Benevilla, the West Valley’s premier family services nonprofit, again joined the online global altruism movement called “GivingTuesday.”

The campaign is a generosity movement offering an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of giving to remain connected and support their communities. It’s a day when everyone comes together to give back in all forms — acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent or treasure.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea — a day encouraging people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement inspiring hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts. Occurring this year Nov. 30, GivingTuesday is conducted annually on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

All donations Benevilla receives as a participant of GivingTuesday will directly support our Benevilla Caregiver Support Groups providing a much-needed support system for the variety of caregivers in the community. Caregiver Support Groups offer friends who can relate to caregiver daily ups and downs and professionals who offer support, information and assistance. Last year alone, more than 1,100 caregivers attended Benevilla free Caregiver Support Group sessions and received the support they needed while going through tough life changes.

During GivingTuesday at Benevilla donations will go twice as far. A generous anonymous donor will match the first $10,000 raised Nov. 30, dollar-for-dollar. To donate for GivingTuesday, call 623-584-4999 or visit benevilla.org/donation/.

Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit human services agency dedicated to enhancing the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, intellectually disabled adults, children and families.
