Back to school is here, and back to our regularly scheduled programs we go! With the holidays right around the corner, we are reminded of the importance of community, gratitude and coming together to celebrate all that we have.

City Council Meetings
The next City Council Meeting is on August 20 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend in person, or you can tune in on surpriseaz.gov/SurpriseTV, the Surprise City Gov Facebook page at facebook.com/CityOfSurprise or on Cox channel 11.
Community Meetings
My next monthly Community Meetings will be on August 20 at 10 a.m. at The Grand in the Agua Fria Room, 17100 W. Clearview Blvd., and on August 23 at 10 a.m. at Arizona Traditions in the Ballroom, 17221 N. Citrus Rd. As promised, sign language interpreters will be at all my Community Meetings at The Grand this year. I look forward to discussing the latest City news and answering any questions you have.

Lazydays RV Ribbon Cutting
Councilmember Patrick Duffy and I had the pleasure of joining Lazydays RV General Manager Darrel Nagler and Sales Manager Justin Rathbun for a ribbon cutting celebrating the opening of their new dealership in Surprise! We are excited to welcome this extraordinary business to our community! Lazydays RV is located at 12630 N. Autoshow Ave.
Mayor’s Roundtable on Disabilities
On July 17, I had the pleasure of joining the Human Service & Community Vitality Department at the Mayor’s Roundtable on Disabilities. This quarterly initiative from the Veterans, Disability & Human Services Commission comprises non-profit and agency partners who share their work with those with special needs in our community. I was honored to be amongst such dedicated and hard-working people sharing the resources they have to offer.
DICK’S Sporting Goods Ribbon Cutting
Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic and I joined Store Manager Terry Yates and District Manager Nicole Pratt, on July 26, to celebrate the grand opening of DICK'S Sporting Goods, located at 13030 N. Prasada Pkwy.! We are pleased to welcome this new business that will certainly be a "slam dunk" in our community!
At the event, we also had the chance to meet Noggin Boss Co-Founders Sean Starner and Gabe Cooper to check out some of the amazing products of this incredible Phoenix-based company!
O.H.S.O. Brewery Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
Mayor Hall, Councilmember Judd, Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic and I joined owners Gloria and Derek Boettcher on July 29, for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new O.H.S.O Brewery, located at 13434 N. Prasada Pkwy.! We are thrilled to welcome this pup-friendly new dining establishment to our community.

Surprise Fiesta Grande Vendor & Car Show Applications Open
The City of Surprise is seeking car show entries, promotional vendors, outreach organizations and local businesses for its annual Surprise Fiesta Grande. This all-ages event celebrates the vibrant culture and traditions that have shaped our city with an evening of live music, food, entertainment and more! Surprise Fiesta Grande will be held on Saturday, October 5, from 5 - 9 p.m. at Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave. Admission is free. This annual event is expected to draw 8,000 - 10,000 participants.
The event offers promotional opportunities for interested businesses, organizations and non-profits. The promotional booth fee is $500 for business vendors and $150 for non-profits. Each booth includes a 10 x 10 vendor tent, (1) table and (2) chairs. Please note that this registration is intended for business vendors focused on promoting their business, not for selling goods or services. We are also accepting Car Show entries for the event. A $25 pre-event registration fee includes a t-shirt, dash plaque and goody bag.

Tot Time Registration Open
The City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is excited to share registration dates for its 2024-2025 Tot Time program. Surprise residents can secure their spots now, with non-residents following suit on August 12.
Designed for children aged 3 - 5, Tot Time is state-licensed and focuses on kindergarten readiness through a blend of educational and recreational activities. From circle time and arts and crafts to educational centers and social skill building, every day is packed with opportunities for growth and fun.
Conveniently located at two sites:
Sierra Montana Recreation Center - 14861 N. Spring Ln.
Countryside Recreation Center - 15038 N. Parkview Pl.
Tot Time operates Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., from September 3, 2024, to May 15, 2025.
Space is limited, so early registration is strongly recommended. Registration information and printable forms will be available on the Tot Time webpage, or by calling 623.222.2210. Once registration opens, completed forms must be dropped off in-person at the Parks & Recreation office at 15960 N. Bullard Ave., Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Fall Teen Programs are in Full Swing
Are you looking to get your teen more involved in activities this fall? The City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department has you covered. Rec Nights, Teen Adventures and Teen Tournaments are available with opportunities for all!
Rec Nights: Dodgeball, lights, music, contests, games and themed events are just some of the activities you can enjoy at one of our Rec Nights located at Sierra Montana Recreation Center! All Rec Nights are held on Fridays from 7 - 9:30 p.m. and are for grades 6 - 8. Tickets are $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents.

Teen Adventures: Ages 12 - 17 will have the opportunity to join other teens in different adventure trips each month. All trips will depart from Sierra Montana Recreation Center. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Teen Tournaments: Step into the arena of friendly competition and fun-filled excitement with fellow teens! Whether you're into sports, games or creative challenges, there's something for everyone. Don't miss out on the chance to compete, bond and create memories together!
