The Surprise Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss at its next meeting approving a conditional use permit for a new Chipotle restaurant in Surprise.
Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at City Hall to possibly take action on the permit with a site plan for the proposed 2,417-square-foot restaurant in the Marley Park planned area development near the southwest corner of Litchfield and Waddell roads.
Plans call for a drive-thru facility on less than an acre of land across the street from the AMC Surprise Pointe theaters.
It would be the third location in Surprise for the popular Mexican restaurant. There are also locations at Litchfield and Bell roads, which is two miles north, and in the new Prasada area near Waddell and Loop 303.
The new restaurant's drive-thru lane would allow room for up to seven cars. The development also has plans for 30 parking spots, which is nearly double what is required.
The city held a neighborhood development meeting on Veteran's Day in November but nobody came to speak out about it.
The Chipotle item is the only thing on the regular agenda for the next P&Z meeting.
