It was all in the threes in the Labor & Delivery Unit at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus on March 3 — three baby boys born on the third day of the third month, triplets born at approximately 33 weeks gestation.
Melissa Patino and Jared Densmore of Glendale are the proud parents. They’re still deciding on names.
The babies are spending some time getting stronger in the hospital’s Level IIIA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at 18701 N. 67th Ave. Each infant weighed around three-and-a-half pounds at birth. The triplets will stay in the NICU for several more weeks before going home with mom and dad.
Abrazo Arrowhead Campus recently received upgraded certification as Level IIIA NICU, a designation from the Arizona Perinatal Trust. Level III neonatal care centers can provide complex care for newborns requiring select subspecialty and intensive care.
“We are pleased to be able to provide specialized care for mothers and babies, including high order multiple births, at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus,” Chief Nursing Officer Julie Bowman shared in a news release.
Level IIIA NICU certification signifies that Abrazo Arrowhead participates in a voluntary certification program that includes ongoing multi-disciplinary comprehensive external review of its perinatal and neonatal care services.
More than 3,500 babies are born each year at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus.
