Doris Janell (Baggett) Pinz

Posted

Doris was born May 24, 1924 to John & Lela (Fulton) Baggett in Dickson, TN. She went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2019 at the age of 95.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lela and John Baggett; her daughter, Shirley Ann Cornelius; her first husband, Stanley Cornelius and her second husband, Lauren Pinz; brothers: Newell Baggett, Fulton Baggett, Willard Baggett, Kenny Baggett, Bobby Baggett; sister, Myrtle (Baggett) Klinger; and grandson, Donald Eugene Amos.

She is survived by her son, Mark L. Cornelius (Rileen); 4 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Doris had heartache in her life. The loss of her daughter in 1964 from a tragic vehicular accident. The loss of her first husband in 1971 at the age of 49. Then her second husband (Lauren) of 22 years in 2016.

One of the ways Doris dealt with these tragic events was by taking up oil painting. We have her works of art displayed in our home.

Doris spent most of her career in Retail after selling the family business. She was an excellent cook and could spend much of her time researching new recipes. She enjoyed decorating her home and was eager to change things from time-to-time.

Doris traveled on occasion to distant places, Hawaii and Alaska were two of her most memorable places.

She and Lauren took many road trips in Arizona and to California. She broke her kneecap on one of these trips. However, in her grace, she bounced back ... as she did with several of her falls that resulted in broken bones.

In 1998, she suffered from Colon Cancer and again with her trust in our Lord, she overcame that terrible illness. She said all along she was going to whip this, and clearly, she did.

Mom had a stroke in 2013 of which she made a full recovery. She always had a wonderful outlook. Unfortunately, on December 26, 2016. It was at this point that she required 24/7 care and we could no longer care for her.

We feel so blessed to have had her live with us nearly 5 years. She loved to cook, and we laughed at what most would see as silly things. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles very much with our one granddaughter, Ysabella (when she was in the area) us and our neighbor. Our neighbors and friends always enjoyed her delightful personality and her winning smile.

She loved the Lord, her family and her many friends. She was a terrific wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandparent and friend.

Mom will be sorely missed for her loving, kind and caring personality.

While our loss is great, we know we will all meet again and rejoice as we find our place next to our Lord.

Memorial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on November 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church Sun City, 11019 W. Peoria Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351.
