Youngtown resident gets new smile

Sun City dentist provides services

When one thinks of someone who needs dentures, the picture of a young, twenty-something person is most likely not the first image that comes to mind.

But for Austin Quigley, the need for dentures was very real.

“I lived pretty much my entire life in pain and embarrassed to smile because of a bad situation I had with my mouth and teeth,” said the 26-year-old Youngtown resident. “My mom and I visited dentists all over the Valley, and what I needed in dental care was too expensive. We were at the point where our next plan was to try to travel to Mexico for dental care, and that’s when we met Dr. Brannon. We went to his office to try one last place.”

Austin and his mom’s visit to Dr. Sibera Brannon’s Affordable Dentures and Implants, 10918 W. Bell Road, Sun City turned into a day Austin will never forget.

“He told me he wanted to help me,” said Mr. Quigley, whose life circumstances, including living in a homeless shelter at one point with his mom, have been a barrier to receiving much needed dental care.

Now after wearing upper and lower dentures provided by Dr. Brannon, Mr. Quigley will received another gift. Dr. Brannon performed Sept. 19 advanced dental surgery, free of charge, that placed 12 implants inside Mr. Quigley’s mouth to permanently screw in his upper and lower dentures. The procedure is known as the All-In-One Solution — a full-arch implant treatment.

“It’s about as close to your real teeth as you can get,” Dr. Brannon explained. “For anyone, at any age, who wears dentures, having those dentures permanently fixed in your mouth provides you with the same kind of freedom that mimics having real teeth.”

The dental implants were donated by BioHorizons, and Dr. Brannon’s surgery was assisted by surgery supplies from Implant Concierge.

“Words can’t describe how thankful I am for Dr. Brannon,” Mr. Quigley said.“When I first received my dentures, it made me feel normal again because when I talk to people, I don’t feel like they are always looking at my mouth. The idea of having permanent dentures now is something I can’t believe.”

Dr. Brannon said the procedure could be helpful to others.

“I really hope to help others like Austin understand that you don’t need to go through life at any age too ashamed to smile,” he said. “I see it every day in my office, and I see what kind of life change occurs, especially the confidence boost that patients experience through dental care. Your overall health is closely connected to your oral health, and I have the honor as a dentist to help make a difference in the lives of so many people, and that’s what I love about what I do.”

According to the American College of Prosthodontists, 178 million Americans are missing at least one tooth and more than 35 million Americans are missing all their teeth on one or both arches.

“I look forward to eating more foods,” Mr. Quigley said. “To receive this gift from Dr. Brannon is something I can’t thank him enough for, and I hope others realize there is hope if you are going through life too embarrassed or not confident to smile.”
