Witches Ride in Sun City West

Supports New Life Center

Posted

Witches will take over the roads in Sun City West this October.

Women of Sun City West dressed as fun-loving witches will start the third annual Witches Ride on bicycles and golf cars 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 at Beardsley Park, 12755 W. Beardsley Road.

The group will gather in the nortwest parking lot at 3 p.m., followed by a five-mile route around Sun City West. After the ride, entertainment will be provided by the Dancing Witches and the New Life Center will share information. This event is in support of the New Life Center in Goodyear, a refuge for domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking.

The New Life Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that also qualifies for an Arizona tax credit. New Life Center serves more than 1,200 children and adults annually. Society has seen a dramatic increase in domestic abuse since the onset of COVID.

The Witches of Sun City West decided to ride to the aid of these women and children seeking help at New Life Center. To accomplish this goal, the group is raising funds and donating new pajamas and socks for ages newborn to adults

A pre-ride collection of pajamas and socks will take place at Beardsley Recreation Center 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 18-26. Drop boxes will be available.

Anyone interested in donating to New Life Center can visit newlifectr.org.

Registration is required to ride and only adult women who reside in Sun City West are allowed. Those who ride a bicycle must wear a helmet and masks are encouraged.

How to help

Choose a witch level when registering. Become a supreme witch, spellbinding witch, good witch or a novice witch. Besides a monetary donation, participants are encouraged to consider buying and donating new pajamas or socks.

Register at eventbrite.com/e/2021-scw-witches-ride-tickets-149920657723 or donate to support women and donate pajamas and socks for the women and children. Registration opens Friday, Oct. 1 and ends Wednesday, Oct. 27. Space is limited and no registration will be accepted on the day of the event. Donations close Monday, Nov. 1.

Ride registration is free and open to women who are residents of Sun City West. Cash donations to the New Life Center are encouraged when registering and any donations in the Supreme Witch category ($125 or more) will be matched by a generous anonymous donor.
