The West Valley Genealogy Society/Library is hosting an open house 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at 12222 N. 111th Ave. The open house is free to the public. The West Valley Genealogy Society/Library has the largest document and book collection in the state of Arizona plus access to files online. Members have full access and there are monthly newsletters, monthly general meetings, guest speakers and special interest groups. The group has more than 59,000 issues scanned from 2100 national and international periodicals, as well as other media like microfilm and microfiche that our members can access. There are also more than 3,000 books to browse. Volunteers within the society have spent many hours digitizing more than 20,000 obituaries that cover the United States, not just Arizona.
