Webb Center announces virtual Nat Geo Live speaker series

The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts is bringing the National Geographic Live Speaker Series direct to living rooms this month. Topics will explore everything from life below the oceans and prehistoric dinosaurs to the art of filmmaking.

Bringing even the smallest detail into sharp focus, National Geographic Live’s upcoming virtual event “Scientific Exposure,” on Tuesday, Feb. 9, features two award-winning natural history photographers. These visual artists use their extensive scientific backgrounds to reveal wildlife and our natural world in surprising ways.

Molecular biologist-turned-photographer Prasenjeet Yadav combines his scientific knowledge with his photography skills to highlight natural history and to bring awareness to critical issues. University of California Berkeley graduate Anand Varma has developed innovative techniques to create stunning images of creatures whose details are otherwise invisible to the naked eye. He uses photography to share the story behind the science on everything from honeybee health to hummingbird biomechanics. The goal of their visual storytelling is to spark a sense of wonder from viewers about the natural world.

The 60-minute virtual event will include short videos narrated by Mr. Yadav and Mr. Varma, and a live, moderated conversation about the intriguing intersection of science and photography. There will also be opportunities for audience questions and answers.

Get an inside look at the challenges and triumphs of photography in the field with remarkable images from around the globe. Tickets for the Feb. 9 Nat Geo Live event are $20. Only one ticket per household is needed for viewing.

Call the Webb Center Box Office at 928-684-6624 or visit dewpac.org to reserve tickets and for a schedule of upcoming events. There is a $5 virtual program delivery charge per ticket whether purchased by phone or online.
