Wayman: Forcing women to have children isn’t the answer

Posted

I’d like to respond to Bobbie Trunk’s recent letter to the editor, A terrible travesty of justice.

“Babies” are not babies in early life, they are fetuses. They cannot live without a mom. Abortion is about more than ending an unwanted pregnancy, it’s about health care and the right to control your body. We have had women in Arizona almost die because they could not get needed medical care for a wanted child.

If you look at Amber C. Thurman from Georgia, she had a child and didn't want another at the time. According to news reports, she left Georgia for a medical abortion with pills. She returned to Georgia and became ill because tissue was left behind after the “miscarriage.” The hospital couldn’t and wouldn’t treat her until her organs started to shut down and she was septic. She died in pain and her little boy has no mom.

Also, what have those who are pro-life done to adopt children in the system? I bet hardly anyone has. They want to force women to have children and then ignore them. They don't help pay for the birth, free medical after birth and for the baby or free daycare.

Let me guess, those women chose to have children so they need to support them, or they were just wicked women and should suffer the consequences. Do you know how much daycare costs? It's more than minimum wage at 40 hours a week.
