Tracy: Does RCSC want annual meeting?

Posted

Does the Recreation Centers of Sun City really want an annual member meeting?

Sun City has not had one since 2009! Why? The required quorum has not been met since it was raised from 100 members to 1250. Could 2021 finally be the year to have a member meeting? Yes, proxies are allowed.

Finding out the procedures and requirements is an exhausting run around! I found nothing online. Then I emailed the RCSC board office asking how to access the procedures, format and timeline requirements for proxies. In a series of emails, the repetitive answers from the RCSC Corporate Executive Coordinator Marcia Johnson were, “You can come to the corporate office and pick up a copy of the procedure, and it does require your signature” and “Quorum and voting information is in our bylaws Article IV titled Membership meetings.”

Repeated with no additional information.

Okay, so they must see who is thinking about proxies, how convenient for the member? Proxy information is not online. A member must intuitively know to go to the corporate office for documents about proxies and sign for them. Why the mystery?

So simple and important to inform the members. Bylaws regarding annual membership meetings, quorums and proxies need the procedures and forms online. At the very minimum add, “Call or visit the corporate office for proxy details.”

The RCSC Articles of Incorporation, Article III states, “The general nature of the business in which the Corporation is engaged is as follows: To do anything and everything lawfully necessary in the interest of the Members of the Corporation…”

The RCSC management and board needs to do “anything and everything” to have the required annual membership meeting Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, “in the interest of the Members.”
