Taylor: Views do not reflect value of SCW

Posted

My wife and I are recent Sun City West homeowners.

When looking for a second home we not only considered the home but also the amenities. And without a doubt, the amenities and the cost to participate in Sun City West beat by a wide margin the alternatives we reviewed.

Sometimes reading the Independent I have to laugh and ask my wife what planet the complainers are from. Where can you find such inexpensive golf to play? And the quality of the courses are very good. Where can you find a community with four recreation centers and as many activities for the price as you can here? And the answer is nowhere.

The price/value of Sun City West is great. For those that bought and own a home in Sun City West that don’t play golf and complain about the support given the golf community, I would ask what were they thinking when buying into a community with so many golf courses? Did you think you could move in and change the dynamics of the community and bend it to your will? That is like when you have young children and look for a community that values education, and then when your children grow up and move away, you complain about the cost of the education system.

Have you considered what the value of your home would be if we did not support the golf courses? I guarantee the value would be considerably less than they are now.

When we were looking for a community to join, this one stood out as an outstanding value. It is why we moved here. I challenge the naysayers to find a better one. After all, if you did, you would probably move there.
