The Daily Independent at YourValley.net welcomes new team members to our expanding Arizona operations.

Janet Perez

Valley journalist Janet Perez of Phoenix takes over the reins as news editor of the Queen Creek and Florence Independents.

“She has jumped right into her role as editor,” said Arizona Managing Editor Patrick O’Grady. “Janet’s news experience makes her the perfect fit for hyperlocal news coverage for the Daily Independent at YourValley.net.”

Ms. Perez served as a reporter and editor in the Texas and Arizona markets for more than thirty years, working for newspapers, magazines, television, radio and digital media. She also served as director of communications for Baylor Law School and ASU Law School.

Her work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, New York Times, Hispanic Business Magazine and more.

Janet was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Phoenix in 1992.

Sheri Myrick

Sheri Myrick of Queen Creek joined the East Valley sales group as an advertising consultant.

Within her first week of employment she closed new advertisers and gained an advertiser’s business back that dropped in early 2020.

Her experience includes, selling digital advertising at Zoom Media Connect. Prior to that, she worked twenty years for Procter & Gamble supporting the companies North America sales teams as an analyst focused mainly against the beauty care category shopper insights, solutions, and category management. 

Sheri earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix. She loves to build relationships with internal and external business partners, as well as build other’s capabilities and capacity. 

“I’m excited about our companies values and I plan to do my part to support our company’s mission,” Ms. Myrick said.

Sheri is originally from Seattle, Washington, and now lives with her fiancée, Jeff, and their German Shepherd, Ranger.  When she is not busy working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, even if it’s over Zoom or Facetime, due to COVID. 

Lisa Norman

The West Valley sales group welcomed Lisa Norman as its newest team member.

Ms. Norman has a diverse background, including the medical field, but her recent two positions focused on marketing and sales at PORA and the Peoria Chamber of Commerce. In her roles, she expanded relationships and increased sales for the organizations.

“I’m excited to join the Independent Newsmedia team and expand my knowledge in the sales area,” Ms. Norman said. “I look forward to getting to know all of my new teammates.”

Like Ms. Myrick, Ms. Norman also obtained a new client in the first days of her employment.                                     

She is originally from Washington state, moving to Arizona 35 years ago.
