Sun City West yoga club seeks resident input

Posted

The Sun City West Yoga Club is gathering information to determine a need for early morning, late afternoon or evening yoga classes. The club has surveyed its current membership but additional information is needed from individuals who are not yoga club members because they work.

The yoga club offers 24 yoga and yoga inspired classes Monday through Saturday. These classes are scheduled during daytime hours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The club is recognizing a need to expand the class offerings into late afternoon, early morning and evening.

The need first came to the club’s attention when it participated in the Newcomers Open House. At this event, several attendees expressed an interest in classes that would accommodate their work schedule. These inquiries highlighted the change in the demographics of Sun City West residents and homeowners. Younger individuals are moving into the community who are working.

The club also saw that current working club members were adapting work schedules to take a class. Often times the classes that fit their schedule were not the right skill level or interest.

“Club members should not have to compromise their yoga practice or go outside the community to attend classes,” stated Yoga Club President Sherry Gustafson. “Sun City West has a beautiful yoga studio and it should be made available to all its residents.”

Based on survey results the club is planning to offer additional classes beginning this fall. Interested residents can participate in the survey with a link at scwyoga.com. Information on current classes and club membership is also available on the website.
