Sun City West Witches Ride gives back
Benevilla receives generous donation
Posted
Benevilla is thankful to the members of the Sun City West Witches Ride for choosing the organization as the recipient of donations raised at the annual Halloween themed event. Over $11,000 was raised by the event to support the numerous services and resources Benevilla offers to the community.
“It was a fun-filled event with hundreds of wonderfully decorated golf carts, music, the incredible witches' dance and most importantly all of the great friends and supporters of Benevilla we had the pleasure to meet with” Joanne Thomson, Benevilla president and CEO said. “We are so grateful for their support and generosity.”
While supporting a local charity remains the primary focus of the celebration, the Witches Ride is a fun filled event for the Sun City West women who support the cause. Riders decorate their bikes and golf cars and dress in full witch regalia including brooms and hats. Cars are assembled in the parking lot of the Beardsley Recreation Center and after the 5-mile parade ride through the community, the witches commune in the park for a bring-your-own-everything picnic. The festivities include live music, the infamous witches dance and a conga line.
“Working with and on behalf of Benevilla is a wonderful opportunity to combine an awesome community event with a very deserving service organization,” Anna Gorman. SCW Witches Ride coordinator said.
Planning is already in motion for the 2023 event. Follow the Witches Ride on the Facebook group, SCW Witches Ride 2022, or email scwwitchesride@gmail.com.
