The Sun City West Tennis Club recently sent two teams to Las Vegas to compete in the regionals of Impact Team Tennis. A total of 63 teams from across the United States participated. This is the third year the club has fielded teams for this competition. The ITT League program features year-round leagues that provide playing opportunities for tennis players of all ages and abilities across the U.S..
Sun City West sent both a 3.5 and a 4.0 Super Senior Team, all over 60 years old. This year, the 3.5 team was undefeated after four matches against teams from Illinois, California and Hawaii. The 3.5 team will advance to the National Championship, which will be Nov. 21-23 in Tucson.
Each of the two teams consisted of five men and five women. This is the first year that a 4.0 team was fielded from Sun City West, and they finished in third place.
The 4.0 team captain is Sun City West resident George Orchard, and the 3.5 team captain is Sun City West resident Pete Kosky.
