The next monthly meeting of the Sun City West Sportsman’s Club is 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in the R.H. Johnson Social Hall.
Members and guests can meet with various group leaders 1-1:30 p.m. to have their questions answered. There will be a short business meeting starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by guest speaker Al Velazauez, assistant fire marshall for the Arizona Fire and Medical Authority. His topic will be “Home Fire Safety.”
The hiking group continues with weekly hikes every Thursday through the summer. Firebird hiking season began May 1 and continues to Sept. 30. Participants meet 5:45 a.m. in area 14 of the R.H. Johnson parking lot to sign liability waivers and pair up drivers and riders. They leave at 6 a.m. Michael Anenen is the hike coordinator and communicator. Anenen and several other volunteers will lead the C and B hikes.
The Sun City West Masters Swimmers resumed coached workouts in September.
