The next meeting of the Sun City West Sportsman’s Club is 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in the Palm Ridge Recreation Center, 13800 W. Deer Valley Drive, Summit Hall A.
Members can meet with the various group leaders from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and have their questions answered. There will be a short business meeting starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by guest speaker Jim Turner, a historian from AZ Humanities-AZ Speaks. His topic will be “The Colorado River and it’s Wonders-A study in Water Use and Conservation.” Guests are welcome. This is a free presentation open to any resident of the Sun City West community.
The Hiking Group continues with weekly hikes every Thursday and Snowbird hiking season continues through April 30. Meet in area 14 of the R.H. Johnson parking lot to sign liability waivers and pair up drivers and riders. Departure times change by month due to sunrise and temperatures. Michael Anenen is the hike coordinator and communicator. Anyone interested in Snowbird hikes can email manenen@sbcglobal.net to be on the hiking contact list. He will send emails each week detailing the upcoming hike. Anenen and several other volunteers will lead the C and B hikes.
The SCW Masters Swimmers has coached workouts 7-8:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the R. H. Johnson pool. Adult Learn to Swim class registration begins in March. Contact Barb Sloan at 623 687 6471 or at scwswimming@gmail.com for more information.
