The Recreation Centers of Sun City West is partnering with Banner Alzheimer’s Institute and Sun Health Research Institute to bring information to the Sun City West.
The first of the informational lectures provided by the Banner Institutes will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the Palm Ridge Summit Hall., 13800 Deer Valley Road.
The free event is free and will cover Dementia Friends.. Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act and talk about dementia.
Attend this one-hour information session to learn what dementia is; what it’s like to live with the disease; the most common types of dementia; and tips for communicating with people who have dementia.
The Banner Alzheimer’s Institute and Sun Health Research Institute have many other resources that can help provide the community with information on brain health, including the Brain Health Check-In, which provides free memory and thinking screenings to detect concerns for potential early cognitive impairment.
Participants receive relevant, personalized information and concern status regarding their memory and thinking, as well as recommendations for follow-up screenings and strategies to optimize brain health.
