The Palo Verde Patchers have taken on a new endeavor: recycling excess fabric.
Elise Warren got the idea when she saw how excess fabric was being thrown away each week from various classes and projects. She found a fabric recycling factory in Chandler. Alice Carter, another PVP member, volunteered to take the bundles of fabric to Chandler once a month.
In the four months the two have been running the program, they estimate approximately 400 lbs. of fabric has been saved from the landfill.
Phoenix Fibers, at 400 E Ray Road (480-963-3277), accepts any kind of fabric without embellishments.
