Wouldn't it be wonderful if we embraced the arrival of the special-needs school into our community with enthusiasm? With our years of life experiences, we might even want to volunteer a little time each week to befriend the autistic children, which would make both your life and the lives of the students richer.
As a community flailing against this school, we bring discredit on everyone in the community instead of being compassionate toward the school and accepting the need to help these children.
A school such as this will do no harm to any resident. If accepted graciously, it will show we are a caring community in supporting the mission of the school to improve the lives of disadvantaged children who could be our children or grandchildren.
