Sun City West clubs host joint open house

The R.H. Johnson Recreation Center’s “Courtyard Clubs” are hosting an open house 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 16.
Among the clubs included is the SilverCraft West Club, where members create unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry and other items out of silver, copper, brass and gold. It offers classes from beginner to advanced jewelry construction and casting classes using several types of materials: silver, brass and copper.
The club is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.
The Ceramic West Club of Sun City West provides residents, novices and experts, with the facilities, organization and the atmosphere to enjoy learning and honing their ceramics skills.
It is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.
The Johnson Lapidary Club is a social and hobby club. Lapidary is the art of cutting, forming and polishing gemstones and precious materials. Club members use modern cutting, shaping and polishing equipment to create their “works of art” as jewelry, bookends, clocks or other pieces. As a member individuals can purchase materials, settings, findings, tools, etc. from the club. Classes are provided for beginners through advanced.
The club is open 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
The Model Railroad Club creates model and prototype railroad trains and landscapes. From reading and dreaming, to designing, sculpting and engineering, members tailor the hobby to suit their interests. New club members are welcome in all scales: N, HO, and G.
The club is open 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Rip ‘N’ Sew Club has Janome sewing machines, Bernette Sergers, a Baby Lock Meridian embroidery machine and a Sailrite heavy-duty machine. There are also cutting tables, irons and ironing boards and a variety of sewing tools for member use.
The club is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
