The Sun City West Scrapbooking, Papercrafts & More club recently presented 514 hand-crafted Christmas and holiday cards to the Military Order of the Purple Heart to use in conjunction with the organization’s Angel Giving Tree Tags Program.
The card making project commenced in June with the goal of making 500 cards for the military organization by November. Finished cards were given to SPAM member Lisa Barnes who stamped a greeting on the inside of each card and placed the club’s hallmark on the back.
Christmas trees located throughout the Sun City West Sun Dome Plaza are decorated with tags representing military veterans living in the valley. Members of the community, who are invited to purchase the gift specified on a tag, will receive a handmade holiday card to include with each gift they purchase for a veteran.
Learn how to make greeting cards, papercrafts or scrapbooks (traditional or digital) by joining SPAM meets in Beardsley Rec Center’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (4-9 p.m.), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 am-5 p.m.).
