Sun City West church hosts Phoenix Women’s Chorus concert

Posted

Desert Garden United Church of Christ welcomes the Phoenix Women’s Chorus in concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, in the church sanctuary, 18818 N. 128th Ave.

The PWC is citywide and welcomes all women and represents a wide range of age, voice types, and musical expertise.

The concert, titled “Be the Change,” is both a call to action and a celebration of the positive impact an individual can have. Karli Anderson, artistic director, said selections such as “Dona Nobis Pacem” call for peace amidst world conflicts, while those such as “A Beautiful Noise” call for examining how one might bring about change.

Anderson said the 50-voice choir strives to make the concert as thought-provoking as entertaining.

Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in musical studies from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in conducting from the University of Texas, San Antonio. She is a full-time teacher at Great Hearts Anthem, where she is head of the arts department and leads eight different high-school ensembles.

Tickets are not required but a freewill offering will be taken. A reception will follow the concert.
