Sun City Community Healing Project offers drum circles

Dr. Lydia Woods, CEO of Drum Arizona, will offer drum circles Thursday, April 24, at Doing Grief Community Healing Project, based at Banner Olive Branch Senior Center in Sun City, 13049 N. 103rd Ave. She will facilitate Native American style drumming at 12:30 p.m. and African Djembe drumming at 1:30 p.m. No experience is necessary and drums will be provided.

Woods is part of a team of professional care providers, artists and artisans who offer programs at Doing Grief Community Healing Project with on-site locations in Sun City, Tempe and central Phoenix. Programs and services include small group and one-to-one grief support, grief education, spiritual enrichment and healing through the arts programs. Anyone experiencing grief related to death, illness, broken relationships, aging, a loss of hope or meaning or any loss that causes grief is welcome to attend.

Upcoming programs in Sun City include:

“Healing the Parent and Grandparent Within” with holistic wellness counselor Vanessa Chamberlain noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29. The workshop will include reflections, a guided meditation and blessing to heal grand/parent-child relationships by focusing on self-healing.

“Playing with Color! Wet-on-Wet Watercolor Painting” with educator Dr. Andrew Darian 12:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8. No experience necessary. All supplies provided. Registration required. Limit 20 participants.
