Stained-Glass Crafters welcome back members
Posted
The Stained-Glass Crafters Club (SGCC) welcomes back members and Sun City West winter visitors. The club is now open with precautions in place that enable members to enjoy a safe workspace.
In 2019, the SGCC underwent a major renovation. The remodeled studio reopened Jan. 11. It is located at the Palm Ridge center and now boasts more than 3,300 square feet. Tools available to members for use include grinders, band and ring saws and kilns. The expansion has allowed for up to 50 artisans to be creating works of art at one time. Storage lockers are also available.
Workboards can be stored in the studio, or members may take them home if they chose.
Due to the current restrictions, SGCC has limits of 25 members in the studio at any given time. Per RCSCW rules, members are required to wear a mask while in the building. Other precautions include temperature taking, required hand washing, and social distancing of 6 feet. The hours of operation are 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and are subject to change. SGCC is accepting new members and training is available. Call 623-544-6586 or stop by the studio for a tour.
As with any improvement, there are costs. In order to pay down the expansion debt the club is hosting a raffle. This will be a “52 Raffle” and drawings will begin in January 2021 and go through December 2021. Members of the SGCC will be selling tickets beginning Nov. 1. Each ticket will cost $52. Only 450 tickets will be sold. Fifty-one weekly drawings will be held for a prize of $100, and on drawing #52, the prize is $1,000. Once a ticket has been chosen, it will be returned to the pot for additional chances to win, including the $1,000. With sales limited to 450 tickets, purchase early, as there is no limit to the number of tickets an individual can purchase. No refund on sold tickets.
