Simousek: Why don't all opinions matter?

Posted

In response to Cindy McFadden and Christie Brown (“There is no need for divisive letters,” Sun City West Independent, July 22, 2020), I apologize for being snarky.

I’m woke now and I’ll try to do better and be more gentle. You two must have been trained in proper liberal deflection to opposition through label use — divisive, vindictive jargon, mocking, threatening, degrading name calling, insensitive, racist.

I’ll try by asking some inclusive questions. Have you invited any of the ”homeless druggies” on our street corners to your home for dinner? Have you suggested the rec centers and clubs be inclusive by inviting everyone in? Have you suggested all the Sun Cities be more inclusive by removing all security doors and windows, remove walls, eliminate the Posse and all security alarms. Have you started a “Mothers Against Any Child Responsibility” chapter? I could really go on but I don’t want to impinge on your motive.

I have lived long enough to be worried for my grand and great-grandchildren. I have watched Democrats so willing to line up and drink the cool aide and feel so smug. Yes, all opinions are important, but I’m not surprised when Christie Brown called out the Independent for allowing opinions that are threatening, degrading and full of name calling. I guess only her opinion is important and certified for correctness. Thanks, Christie, for pointing that out because that is the point of my letter, ignorance is contagious and worse than COVID-19.

I believe that the majority of us chose to live here because of the structure of rules, zoning, respect of property, availability of help from police and fire responders and general law abidance. I have no respect for looters, thugs wanting anarchy, in the name of some hollow movement. All of you who carry those signs will achieve a just end when rules of law are enforced and taught in homes, schools and communities. It begins by calling actions what they are, not by sugar coating them with sanitized excuses.

Woke at last, woke at last, thank God Almighty I’m woke at last.
