I think that Sun City West would be an ideal location for the Autism school. The CEO has already explained that the students would be bused to the school, therefore I do not see a huge traffic problem. We have big traffic problems at the grocery stores!! I don't know the actual crime rate for SCW, but I'm sure it would not be the same as a location in downtown Phoenix, or possibly Scottsdale or Mesa.
My daughter had a learning disability, as she had ADHD. Fortunately, her schools in Illinois were understanding and kept in touch with me. I think some of the attitudes of "opposing opinions" may stem from "We've never done this or had this before, why should this be true now?"
Because there is a need, we should be glad and supportive to the needs of these students. If there was a keyboard there, I would volunteer to teach some piano, as music is the great "teacher" for all of us or I could volunteer in some other way.
