SCW Foundation Board: Foundation officials give thanks

Posted

The Sun City West Foundation board and staff would like to thank our fabulous, generous neighbors for supporting our fund drive this year.

The response was overwhelming, and we are so very grateful for all of you who took the time to read about us and helped us mitigate the loss of revenue we sustained during COVID. Our Helping Hands and banquet and meeting rooms have been open and serving you throughout the pandemic.

The Sun City West Foundation is not part of the Recreation Centers of Sun City West. We have no affiliation with the rec centers, nor do we receive any financial assistance from them.

Some members of our community have erroneously believed that we are part of the rec centers and have been supported by them over the years. We hope to correct this misunderstanding as we continue our work in the community. The Foundation is here for you, our Sun City West neighbors. So who are we?

We are a non-profit organization that supports religious, educational and service organizations in our community. Helping Hands is part of the Foundation, and we know that many of you have relied on Helping Hands for the loan of medical equipment as well as items for when your grandchildren visit.

The Sun City West Posse building is located on our property and all of us are so thankful to have the Posse watching out for us!

The AARP Tax Aide Program receives free space in our building as they assist you in preparing your tax returns.

Northwest Valley Connect, which helps you with your transportation needs, is supported by the Foundation, as are the Sun City West PRIDES, who keep our community looking as beautiful as it does.

The Community Fund (not to be confused with the Sun City West Foundation), which helps your neighbors with financial assistance when needed, meets here in our building at no cost, as does the American Cancer Society. The OHOA has their office in our facility, and the Sun Health Resale Shop is located right next to our main office as they lease the space from the Foundation. If you haven’t checked out the Resale Shop, come on by — they have a wonderful array of items for sale and you never know what you might find!

We are proud of the work we do, and again, are very grateful to those of you who donated this year for helping us continue this important community function.

Come by and visit! We’re open 8 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday. We look forward to meeting you and telling you all about the Sun City West Foundation!
