The Rotary Club of Sun City West met Nov. 5 at the Quail Room in Sun City West. Shelly Hollin, Donor Relationship Coordinator from the non-profit organization Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels, accepted a donation from the club’s endowment fund.

During her three-year fight with leukemia and nine-month battle with a brain tumor, Amanda Hope dreamed that one day she would design a fun clothing line for children just like her, which would provide comfort and dignity during chemo treatments. Hope’s life ended all too soon but her dream lives on through the Comfycozy’s for Chemo apparel and her legacy continues.

Hope’s mother founded the organization in 2012, in celebration of Amanda Hope’s life. In addition to providing the Comfycozy adaptive apparel for children in need, Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels, Phoenix, also makes available financial aid and in-hospital counseling services to families.

The Rotary Club of Sun City West has demonstrated a commitment to service through personal involvement. It is a local leader in helping families and organizations in need in the Phoenix area, as well as across the world. Through its members, it has been involved in providing service and funding to organizations including Navajo Nation’s Water Project, Valley View Food Bank, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Kenya Keys Education, Guatemala Literacy, Sun City West Prides, Sun City West Posse, Benevilla, Nadaburg Library Books and more.

The Rotary Club is for men and women of all backgrounds and professions who want to serve to change lives. Membership is made up of people from Sun City West as well as surrounding communities/neighborhoods (Surprise, Sun City Grand, Corte Bella, Sun City). Each meeting includes a brief presentation by a Rotary member, community non-profit or other organizations or individuals on a topic of interest to the club members. Through regular club programs, projects and neighborhood activities, members learn about the issues that face the communities and exchange ideas about how to take action to respond to them.

Fellowship and service are key for membership in the Rotary Club, which welcomes new members, seasonal or full-time.
