Rockhounds West stay busy with recent, upcoming trips

Posted

Rockhounds West members recently completed their annual January trek to the Quartzsite Arizona Gem and Mineral Show. Quartzsite is a famous rock lovers paradise where shoppers can bargain with vendors for rock and gemstone treasures.

The group’s next trip is to a local collection site for red and green jasper Friday, Feb. 14. On Wednesday, March 5, the Rockhounds head to the 60th Jubiliee Rockhound Roundup Gem and Mineral Show in Deming, NM. This overnight trip includes field trips, a chance to visit local history sites, a winery tasting experience and group dinners.

Membership is $10 with no monitoring requirements. General monthly meetings are at the R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall featuring speakers such as gem store owners, government land and geology experts and mineral museum curators.
