Richard Samuel Potts

On January 13, 2022 Richard passed away. He was born on July 29, 1939 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to the late Hencley Potts and Evelyn E (Bills) Potts. He spent time in Utah and California growing up. He had a brother John D Potts and a sister Carol A (Potts) Lundburg. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. He spent a year at Tan Son Nhut AB Vietnam 68-69. He married Gail D (Kisner, Komm) Potts in 1970. After becoming a Master Sargent he entered the officer training program. He retired in August of 1984 as a Captain. Then he spent 13 years, 9 as a detective, with the Scottsdale P.D. After retiring again he and Gail moved to Overgaard, AZ, where several of his years were spent as a lookout for the Forest Service. Then they moved to Sun City West where he enjoyed playing golf, swimming and bicycling. During 6 years of his time as an officer they lived in Germany, where Scott graduated from high school, and Greece. He has a daughter Zoe A (Potts) Merkel (Mark) from his first marriage. He has two stepsons William E Komm  (Cindy) and Scott A Komm and a grandson William C from his second marriage. Richard will be cremated at Camino del Sol and have a military honors ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery. Richard loved animals so a donation to a rescue group would be appreciated.
