I read the point-counterpoint arguments about the Iran strike by James Fitzpatrick and Damian Murphy.
Mr. Murphy argues that there should have been congressional hearings and authorization for such action despite credible intelligence that Iran now has about 409 KG of enriched uranium, some of which is nearing purity enough for use in atomic weapons. For peaceful uses, uranium needs to be enriched only to about 4%.
Iran is a known state sponsor of terrorism throughout the world and has vowed the complete destruction of Isreal and the U.S.
Mr. Murphy is absolutely correct; we should inform our sworn enemies of where, when and how we will strike. Obviously, I am being sarcastic.
In order to vanquish an enemy, we must destroy their ability to make war as well as their will to make war. The U.S. should have destroyed all military bases, government buildings, utility and transportation facilities, all oil fields and if we have credible intelligence of where the leaders of this criminal nation live, their homes and families as well.
Some will say my position is extreme. Giving in to bullies only emboldens them to do more harm and we have seen this with this criminal nation since 1979; just as the world saw with Germany in the 1930s. How quickly we forget the lessons of the past.
In my judgement, it is better for a million civilians in Iran to be collateral damage than 100 million persons throughout the world to be collateral damage.
