Here in Sun City West, a company wants to open a school for autistic children and they want to get "volunteers" from the community. First, they're a for-profit school that will suck money from the public school system, and then they want volunteers (free labor from the residents).
There's a lot of people focusing on autistic children who need schools like this, which is totally beside the point. I am all for a school someplace to help autistic kids. However, it should be private ‑ meaning like Catholic schools or other religious schools, where the only benefit they get is to pay zero taxes, but otherwise they pay their own way, pay their help, and put it somewhere outside of an active senior living community.
