Provateare: Food ad papers help resident keep track
Posted
By Pep Provateare
I live in Sun City and a lot of times I forget what day it is.
I looked forward to the weekly ads in the mail. When it came on Tuesday, I would know that it was Tuesday. Now that eight mail routes had the fliers taken off because of another publication, I am totally lost. I wake up not knowing what day it is. I can’t ask anyone on my street because they don’t get the fliers either.
I usually stand on the corner and shout at a car to see what day it is. Sometimes the driver yells back and says they don’t know either because they are one of the eight mail routes that no longer receive the fliers. Of all places to stop fliers is in a retirement community.
Be polite if someone approaches you and asks what day it is. I was told by the letter carrier to call the newspaper. I’m sure that this is just the beginning and eventually they will cut more routes. I started this letter on — never mind, I forgot the day — but when I did read the weekly ads it was included with the list of things I did that day. I now have a 15-minute gap in my Tuesday morning.
If you see me, please keep me informed what day it is, I might have a doctors appointment that day.
