About 40 volunteers from the Sun City West PRIDES gathered Nov. 6 to prepare luminaria kits for sale at the organizations 16th annual event.

Paul Kunze, PRIDES sand bagging coordinator, said the volunteers are assembling about 4,000 kits.

The kits, which include 12 bags, sand and candles, sell for $8 Pre-orders of 15 or more sell be $7.50 and can be delivered.  The PRIDES are selling them at Bob’s Variety Store, 13567 Camino del Sol, until Dec. 24.

Sun City West residents are encouraged to light and display the luminaria on Christmas Eve.

For the tenth year PRIDES volunteers are also offering residents the opportunity to donate $20 for a kit of 24 lights to be presented to families at Luke Air Force Base. The kit will include a greeting card from the donor.

Donations also help the Luke Air Force Base Library. Mr. Kunze about $3,500 was donated to the library after the 2018 sales.
