I’ve been reading your paper for a couple of years and overall I would say you live up to your printed pledge to the left of your letters to the editor section.
That’s why I can’t figure out why you chose to print the recent letter by David Postgate of Sun City (“Exorcise the corruption in government,” Sun City West Independent, June 30, 2021). There’s no doubt this is an issue of great importance to Mr. Postgate, to find an exorcist to rid our government of the Devil and demons. I’m not sure if he is referring to our state or federal government, or both, and if he means everyone who is in a leadership role.
I’d like to think (rather, I certainly hope) he’s in a minority who actually thinks exorcism is a viable alternative to voting. I wonder, did you only get four letters to the editor this week, or does your pledge mean something different than “to facilitate community debate?”
That letter underlines our country’s obvious extreme divisions and if we can come together, it really will be a miracle.
