PORA hosts free seminar on trust versus wills in Sun City West

The Property Owners and Residents Association is offering a free seminar to residents.

Premier Estate Planning will host the free trust versus wills seminar noon-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at PORA, 13815 Camino del Sol.

The company has been serving the community since 1992 with two office locations in Surprise and Cave Creek.

“We provide education first and as a document preparer we are not allowed to give advice, but can provide demonstration when people get to the fork in the road,” Maloney said.

Staff provides sound education and equips each with questions to make decisions based on fact for families, rather than what they are hearing from friends, she added.

Maloney describes these documents as essentially permission slips, and while seniors do need this service, it is also for younger people. She said almost everyone says they already have documents in place and when they get an opportunity to educate people so often they learn what they thought was right is actually wrong.

Cost is the number one barrier, according to Maloney. The other is misinformation found online.

“I would rather be the Walmart in the estate planning world and serve the masses then worrying about a law firm and charging them $5,000 a piece,” she explained.

With a focus on education, Maloney said they want people to leave not feeling overwhelmed by the process. Relationships are formed and Maloney hopes to serve the whole family and make sure the document gets pulled off and happens like it is supposed to.

Residents can register for the event by calling 602-371-8898 or email educate@premieraz.net.
