Planning initiatives for Sun City West management questioned

Posted

A public debate has been called for and the idea rejected by Recreation Centers of Sun City West General Manager GM Steve Erno. I am, of course, referring to my proposal to debate the necessity of planning initiatives for management of Sun City West.

I was looking forward to the revealing of issues, debating the ideas and letting the community at large decide if these initiatives are necessary, and worth the costs associated with implementation, especially considering the lack of financial decision-making criteria and lack of guidance identified in evaluation of the implemented plan elements.

Existing governing documents identify what is to be done concerning the management of Sun City West. All that is needed is a modicum of common sense in the execution of these duties.

I expect Mr. Erno is congratulating himself on a “win.” As the years pass and the budget swells to incorporate these planning initiatives, there will eventually be an uprising about the increased fees with no substantive improvement in the operation or management of Sun City West.

Mr. Erno is so tone deaf as to what he should be doing for the community that he does not yet realize he has sowed the seeds of his own destruction as general manager. As the discontent and costs increases, he will not be able to back away from his complicity; his name is all over it, and I will be here to remind the community of that fact.

So resident-owners sit back, open your checkbooks and see what you have done to yourselves. I will take no further action until such time as others call for removal of all governing board members and removal of Steven Erno, General Manager. Will a vote be necessary, or will Erno resign, tuck his tail between his legs and run with his newly acquired retirement benefits paid for by SCW? Only time will tell.
