Patchers provide the tools needed for creation

The Palo Verde Patchers recognize the importance of providing members who are new to quilting the tools they need to be successful.

The Beginning Quilting class is a six month opportunity to learn the basics of selecting fabric, cutting fabric, sewing the fabric pieces together into blocks and finally putting together the blocks to make a beautiful quilt.

Instructor Fran Elliott selects a quilt pattern that has a variety of traditional blocks and structures each class to build these basic quilting skills. “Warmth of the Stars” is the name of the pattern Elliott is using for this season’s class. Classes began on in November and will continue once a month on the second Thursday through April. By the end of the session each student will have completed their quilt top.

PVP’s club rooms are at the Kuentz center and are open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday (until 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday) and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday. Announcement meetings are 10 a.m. on the first, third and fourth Tuesdays. Monthly general meetings are 10 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the R.H. Johnson Social Hall. In lieu of the general meeting in December, members will attend the annual holiday luncheon at the Briarwood Country Club.

Visitors are welcome to attend meetings. For further information on other club activities, visit patchers.scwclubs.com or call President Nancy Steely at 623-546-6240.
