Christmas came early this year as Karen Justus, instructor with Sun City West’s Palo Verde Patchers, provided bags of three inch squares of Christmas fabric left over from a previous event. Eight participants — from left, Kate Woody, Pat Bradach, Linda French, Jan Tucker, Cheryl Schalk, Kathy Tiede, Justus, Monica Niemeier and Patricia Casey — joined to create a brown bag scrappy quilt. Schalk decided on a different color path that would complement her home decor. The quilt blocks are set on point and require attention to the settings. Once that is assembled the first border was made with a French Braid technique. The final border is added for the quilt top.
