Northwest Valley Connect helps the many Northwest Valley seniors 65 and older, veterans and people with disabilities who cannot drive themselves.
The majority of rides, at 73%, provided are for medical appointments.
One way Northwest Valley residents can help with this task is to volunteer as a ride facilitator. This work can be done from home or at the NVC call center, 9445 N. 99th Ave., Peoria during one 4-hour shift per week.
The agency is also sorely in need of additional drivers who can use their own vehicles, as well as drivers for the NVC vans. Drivers who use their own vehicles can receive partial mileage reimbursement.
Drivers may set their own schedule. NVC officials are completely flexible and will accommodate volunteers, whether they can drive one day per month or a couple of days per week.
Call Gail Christianer, NVC volunteer coordinator, at 623-282-9300 or email her at gchristianer@northwestvalleyconnect.org.
