The Northwest Valley Democrats meeting began with President Maria Bears introducing Bernadette Greene Placentia, who was running to be a candidate for the Arizona's 8th Congressional District last year.

Members held from Kristin Roberts, the North Phoenix-West Valley coordinator for the non-partisan, community-based Save Our Schools Arizona organization was the guest speaker at the Northwest Valley Democrats Club Jan. 8 meeting. She talked about the low national rankings of the Arizona public school system. Roberts said one of the extremely high-cost ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) Voucher Program, over hundreds of millions of dollars from the State’s local 2023-24 public school budgets were used to support this program.  Various school systems within metro Phoenix have had to reduce staff, as there has been a decreasing availability of funds.

The Northwest Valley Democrats hosts the general meeting 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month running September through May, at the Sun City West Foundation Quail Room, 14465 R.H. Johnson Blvd.
