The latest quilt now on display at the R.H. Johnson Library is “Stars & Stripes, made by the Palo Verde Patchers Honor Quilt group led by Karen Yeadon.

This pattern came from a Fons & Porter magazine. A designer named Mark Lipinski created the quilt pattern, which was rated as a challenging level pattern.

There were 12 ladies from the Patchers who worked on the quilt: Pam Boley, Karen Yeadon, Janelle Kluch, Diana Smith, Lorraine Anderson, Julie DuBois, Jan Berndt, Joyce Chamberlain, Debbie Walsh, Judi Lundstrom, Mary Roberts and Kathy Zeman. Lorraine Anderson quilted this quilt. Kathy Zeman put on the binding.

The Honor Quilt program creates quilts that are presented to local veterans who have served in a combat zone. PVP is honored to make and present these quilts to combat zone veterans as a way of thanking them for their service.

To nominate a local veteran who served in a combat zone, contact the PVP quilt group at patchers.scwclubs.com or visit the club room at the Kuentz Center, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
