New quilt on display at Sun City West library

“In All Its Glory,” a traditional blocks and long-arm quilting by Vivian Bjornlie, is now on display at the R.H. Johnson Library.

“I saw ‘In All Its Glory’ (designs by Cozy Quarters) as a display in a local quilt shop,” stated Bjornlie.

The quilt uses traditional blocks including Cornerstone Log Cabin blocks. Bjornlie, a member of the Palo Verde Patchers, purchased the kit, sewed the blocks and custom long-arm quilted it herself.

“When I was 16 years old, I made my first quilt out of 6” squares of double-knit fabric with the help of my grandma. After making crafts and sewing clothes for myself and my three children, I started quilting and I fell in love with it!” stated Bjornlie.

Eventually, she bought a computerized long-arm quilting machine and started her own business. Bjornlie says she has enjoyed teaching the art of quilting to her two daughters and five of her grandchildren.

“I was president of the Lakes Area Quilt Guild of Detroit Lakes, MN, and now enjoy the many different groups in the Palo Verde Patchers Quilt Club in Sun City West,” she stated.

Visit the Palo Verde Patchers’ website at patchers.scwclubs.com for more information about the club. The club room is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday (until 8 p.m. on Tuesday) and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, at the Kuentz Center. Visitors are welcome.
